Your team has enough power. The boss still shrugs off the opener, Scorpion Cookie stacks poison at a snail's pace, and a skill that should have landed seems to disappear. Adding more ATK will not fix every one of those failures.
Late-stage progression starts checking two stats that are easy to ignore early: Accuracy and Focus. One decides whether the skill connects. The other decides whether its debuff sticks. Mixing them up wastes gear, and ignoring both can turn a repeatable clear into twenty restarts.
Accuracy and Focus solve different misses
Accuracy counters enemy Evasion. When your Accuracy is too low, the enemy can avoid the skill completely. The damage misses and any effect attached to that hit never gets a chance to work.
Focus counters enemy Resistance. A skill can connect and deal damage, yet its poison, DEF Down, or another debuff may fail. That points to Focus.
| Stat | It fights | Failure you see | | --- | --- | --- | | Accuracy | Evasion | The attack or skill misses | | Focus | Resistance | The hit lands, but the debuff does not |
Giving Scorpion Cookie more Accuracy may help her hit, but it will not solve Venom Sting getting resisted after the hit connects. The equipment screen can make the wrong fix look convincing, so identify the failure before chasing a larger number.
Expect the checks around Chapters 70 to 80
Early chapters let you get away with messy stats. Around Chapters 70 to 80, missed hits and failed debuffs become easier to notice. Bosses live through a rotation that used to work. Damage stalls for several seconds. The same team clears once, then fails three times with no obvious change.
The requirements rise at a fairly steady pace. One early checkpoint around Chapter 34 uses 273 Accuracy and 232 Focus. A late checkpoint in Chapter 83 reaches 558 Accuracy and 473 Focus. These snapshots are not permanent targets for every stage. They explain why a build that felt fine earlier can suddenly become unreliable.
Check the current fight instead of copying one number forever. If the stage wants less than your Cookie already has, another Accuracy or Focus roll is dead weight. When the Cookie sits below the check, the missing stat may beat another offensive line.
Read the failed run before changing gear
Watch the first rotation at normal speed. If the entire skill misses, compare Accuracy with the current stage. If damage appears but the status icon does not, check Focus. Scorpion Cookie makes this easy to see because Venom Sting needs to stack. Devil Cookie and Dark Choco Cookie expose the same problem when DEF Down fails to appear.
The opening matters more than the final damage screen. Scorpion wants to reach ten poison stacks quickly. Missing an early application delays every tick that follows, so the loss grows through the fight. Devil Cookie without DEF Down is taking a team slot without doing the job you brought him to do.
Run the same stage several times before spending materials. One unlucky attempt proves little. A repeated pattern does. Swap one gear piece, rerun, and compare how often the opener works. Changing Cookies, Pets, and six items together only hides the answer.
Build gear around each slot's stat pool
Every equipment piece has its own substat pool. Weapons such as the sword, bow, and staff make useful offensive rolls easier to find. Accessories have more possible results, so forcing a perfect accessory can chew through time and materials.
Use this late-stage setup as a starting point:
- Put Skill Amp on the top six slots when the pieces allow it.
- Add Accuracy to three or four of those six pieces.
- Spend the remaining top rolls on CRIT Chance, CRIT DMG, Focus, or Skill Haste according to the Cookie.
- Favor Focus and Skill Haste on the bottom-right group.
- Use the bottom-left group to fill Power or the build's remaining shortage.
Keep a strong piece when the stage check is already covered. When the team repeatedly fails its setup, trade a little theoretical damage for the stat that makes the rotation happen.
The broader gear and Sugar Rune guide covers Skill Amp, Skill Haste, damage stats, and upgrade materials across every role.
Give debuffers enough Focus to do their job
Scorpion Cookie is the cleanest test case. Her single-target damage depends on Venom Sting landing and stacking. Full offense can produce a faster clear when every application works, but a Focus build produces fewer dead attempts. For daily farming or a boss I plan to repeat, I would rather clear reliably than restart until the game cooperates.
Devil Cookie and Dark Choco Cookie follow the same logic. Their DEF Down opens the team's damage window. When it fails, the rest of the lineup can look weak even though their builds did not change. Check the debuffer before replacing the damage dealers.
Focus belongs on Cookies that apply a useful debuff. A pure attacker gains nothing from it. The Cookie list shows roles, buffs, and Synergy information, which makes it easier to find a real owner for a Focus piece.
Keep enough Power for the stage multiplier
Accuracy and Focus do not replace combat Power. Stages can reduce your damage when the lineup falls below the expected total. A team that lands every debuff can still time out if the stage multiplier cuts its output too far.
Raise Power until the damage multiplier gives the team a workable attempt, then use Accuracy and Focus to make the rotation dependable. Roughly 35% or 55% of the available stage damage can be enough for a push, while the highest thresholds may demand far more investment than a first clear needs. The display changes with the stage, so judge the result in combat.
A higher-Power item with poor substats may win while you sit under a harsh penalty. Once the team reaches a usable multiplier, move back toward stats that fit each Cookie. A green arrow can help with Power. It cannot diagnose a missed Venom Sting.
Use the Tier List to compare late-game investment value after the stage checks are covered. A high rank can tell you which Cookie is worth building next, but it cannot turn an Accuracy shortage into an ATK problem.
Progress without waiting for perfect equipment
Perfect sets are slow because accessories can roll so many stats. Most accounts will mix a few clean pieces with several compromises. Cover the current Accuracy and Focus checks, keep enough Power, and improve one slot when a good replacement appears.
Sugar Runes can patch a shortage on one Cookie. This helps when Scorpion needs more Focus but changing shared equipment would hurt someone else. Check what the stage asks for before locking expensive rolls. SSR lettering cannot rescue a stat that already sits above the target.
You can clear below the ideal checks by retrying until the right hits and debuffs land. That works for a one-time push. It gets miserable when you farm the stage. If every clear takes five restarts, consistency will save more time than another small CRIT DMG increase.
When the stats look correct and the run still fails, compare the shape of the lineup with the recommended teams, then test your exact roster in the Team Builder. A missing tank, support, or Synergy match needs a lineup change rather than more Accuracy.
Use this card when a stage feels random
- Raise Accuracy when the whole skill misses.
- Raise Focus on the debuffer when the hit lands but poison or DEF Down fails.
- Check the Power multiplier and offensive stats when debuffs work but damage stays low.
- Fix survival or healing when the front line dies before the setup starts.
- Compare several openers when one attempt works and the next collapses.
- Spend the slot elsewhere when the Cookie already exceeds the check.
Build enough Accuracy and Focus for the fight in front of you, then go back to damage. Stacking either stat past its job only replaces one bad build with another.
CookieRun: Crumble Accuracy and Focus FAQ
What does Accuracy do in CookieRun: Crumble?
Accuracy counters enemy Evasion. If a Cookie has too little Accuracy for the fight, an attack or skill can miss completely.
What does Focus do in CookieRun: Crumble?
Focus counters enemy Resistance. It helps poison, DEF Down, and other debuffs land after the skill hits.
How much Accuracy and Focus do I need?
Match the current stage check instead of using one permanent target. A Chapter 83 example asks for 558 Accuracy and 473 Focus, but earlier stages need less and later stages can ask for more.
What is the best late-stage equipment setup?
Favor Skill Amp on the top six slots, then add Accuracy to three or four of those pieces. Use Focus and Skill Haste on the bottom-right group, while the other slots cover Power and role-specific needs.
Can I clear a stage below the Accuracy or Focus check?
Yes. Repeated attempts can produce a run where the important hits and debuffs land. That is acceptable for one clear, but meeting the checks makes farming and repeated boss runs far more consistent.
